My Gear
I get asked a lot about what gear that I use for my photos and videos and so here it is!
I like to get a lot of my gear from WEX, they stock literally everything when it comes to photography and video making, and they also have a whole range of optical equipment from standard binoculars to telescopes as well as camera hides and outdoor accessories. Not only do they stock a huge range of new equipment, you can also get your hands on some awesome used gear and save yourself some £££.
Another company that I use a lot for second hand gear is MPB (you can also trade in old gear for cash). You get a 6-month warranty on all purchase plus a 14-day return window. If you are interested in saving £££ and purchasing second hand here are some helpful links:
MPB UK, MPB France, MPB Europe, MPB Germany, MPB USA
As well as all the camera gear I bring with me, my most used thing is the OS Maps app from Ordinance Surveys. This app is blooming marvellous! Not only can easily pan your own routes with the planner and see your route length and elevation, you can also find routes shared by other users, and you can also download your route for use in areas where there is no mobile phone signal = essential when in Wales!

My phone and ideal pocket camera for when I am out exploring as it is always with me. Also, handy for filming when I am using my main camera.

Sometimes 200 mm isn’t enough, that is where this 2x teleconverter comes in. using this takes my 70-200 lens to 140-400mm and allows me to get a bit closer to my subject. This is a cheaper and lighter option than getting a longer lens and if I ever go travelling over seas I lean towards taking this over the heaver 200-600 G

Superb on camera shotgun mic and can be used via USBC for voice-overs when editing on my PC.

Recently upgraded to the Mic 2, as this can bluetooth directly into my Osmo Action 5 Pro and make my editing so much easier as I no longer need to sync audio.

For Long exposure photography and when I need something a bit sturdier for filming, this is my go-to tripod.

Fast cards are a must when shooting 4k video and these are my go to. Reliable and fast, I have 4 of these to make sure I can keep filming all day long.

While it’s not a piece of clothing, it is one of my best buys of 2024. This seat pad is comfortable, waterproof and lightweight making this ideal for when I am sitting out with my camera for long periods of time.

Great bit of kit to help you blend into nature and some closer encounters with wildlife. I got mine from New Forest Clothing as they were the cheapest around (benefit of being an S is that it’s usually on sale)
